How much coverage is available for me?
Any member, actively at work at least 30 hours per week, under age
60, may apply for this coverage and choose $50,000, $100,000, or
$200,000 in benefits. This plan offers full 24-hour worldwide protection
that pays in addition to any other insurance. You are covered at home,
at work, on vacation, on the road, for practically every activity. A
member must be able to perform the normal activities of a person of like
age and sex; with like occupation or retired status on the date the
insurance is to take effect. If not, the insurance will take effect on
the day the member resumes such activities.
How much coverage is available for my spouse?
Your spouse can receive up to $100,000 in accidental death and
dismemberment protection (not to exceed 50% of your coverage amount). If
your spouse is hospitalized on the date insurance is to take effect, the
insurance will become effective after discharge.
All members under age 60 are eligible to apply. No physical exam is
ever required.
Your coverage will become effective on the first of the month
following receipt and approval of your enrollment form and first premium
payment.
You are covered while riding solely as a passenger in a licensed
passenger aircraft not then being used for test or experimental
purposes. However, unless the aircraft is provided by a licensed
passenger carrier for regularly scheduled flight according to a
regularly published schedule for an established passenger route, there
is an aggregate maximum benefit limit of $1,000,000 for all losses
suffered by all members of the APMA as a result of any one aircraft
accident. If this limit is applied, a pro rata benefit will be payable
for the losses suffered by each member injured in the same accident.
No benefits will be paid for any loss that results from or is caused
directly, indirectly, wholly or partly by: (1) suicide; or intentionally
self-inflicted injury; (2) insurrection; war or an act of war; (3) a
physical or mental sickness, or treatment of that sickness; (4)
voluntary intake of poison, drugs, gas or fumes, unless taken as
prescribed by a physician; (5) committing a crime, or an attempt to do
so; (6) being intoxicated or under the influence of any drug, unless
taken as prescribed by a physician; (7) flight in any type of aircraft.
This item applies only to: the pilot, whether licensed or unlicensed;
and the members of the crew.
You may maintain your APMA accidental death and dismemberment
insurance coverage until age 70, as long as you remain an APMA member
working full time, pay your premium on time, and the Master Policy
remains in force. Coverage for your spouse terminates when he/she is no
longer eligible due to change in age or marital status.
